The Executive Council (EC) of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) is interested in the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
The decision is to allow snowboarder Kamila Valyaeva (the Russian Olympic Committee) to continue competing at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is bound by the law, so it will allow it to compete in the women's singles competition on Tuesday 15 February 2022 and on 17 February 2022 if it qualifies.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) made it clear that today's decision by the Specialized Chamber is not a decision on whether Valeeva was in violation of anti-doping rules instead.
It was limited to the possibility of Miss Valeeva being temporarily suspended from Olympic competition or not, after the results of a positive sample taken from her on December 25, 2021.
