The last couple of years have been unusual to say the least, and like most other industries, Hollywood has had to make a number of adjustments.


Warner Bros. committed to airing all of its major 2021 releases simultaneously on HBO Max, but results have been mixed, while other studios have used a cinema+ and digital combination.


It probably won't change in 2023, but that doesn't mean there aren't some incredible films in store for us. Read on for the most anticipated films of 2023.



Kraven the Hunter

Release date: January 13, 2023


Originally scheduled to appear in Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man franchise before it was discontinued by Sony, classic villain Spidey is finally making his way to the big screen. The film will be directed by JC Chandor (Hope Never Fails, Triple Frontier) and will be played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Pietro Maximoff/Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron).



Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania

Release date: February 17, 2023


Paul Rudd and company are back. It promises to be interesting, as the film will feature Jonathan Majors as supervillain Kang the Conqueror and Bill Murray as... someone.



Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves



Director: John Francis Daley, Jonathan Goldstein


Release date: March 3, 2023


The hit role-playing game is getting a chance to hit the big screen thanks to directors John Francis Daly and Jonathan Goldstein (Games Night, 2015's Vacation) and an all-star cast including Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Hugh Grant, Bridgerton star Rege -Jean Page and others.




Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom - Aquaman 2



Directed by: James Wan


Release date: March 17, 2023


James Wan returns to the director's chair to revisit the world of Atlantis and DC superhero Aquaman (Jason Momoa), joined by Amber Heard (Mera), Patrick Wilson (Ocean Master) and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Black Manta). There are no other details about the film yet.



John Wick Chapter 4



Directed by: Chad Stahelski


Release date: March 24, 2023


The blockbuster franchise of Chad Stahelski and Keanu Reeves is finally hitting theaters in 2023 after a two-year delay caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Not much is known about the film other than that John Wick is at war with The High Table and may be presumed dead, and Stahelski has gone on record saying there's a chance that Chapter 4 won't be a "happy ending" for its protagonist.



Guardians of the Galaxy Part 3



Directed by: James Gunn


Release date: May 5, 2023


Writer-director James Gunn is following up on his hilarious work The Suicide Squad (2021) with Guardians, which will undoubtedly feature a winning Chris Pratt and a terrific mix of other actors, and. Of course, a lot of fun is planned.

It is known that Will Poulter will play Adam Warlock, who was discussed at the end of the second part.



Fast & Furious 10

Fast Furious 10

Release date: May 19, 2023


This is only the first part of the tenth part of the fastest franchise in the world.

(The second part, which is rumored to be the last in the series, will be released in 2024.)

And while the plot is being kept under wraps for now, Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, and the rest of the family are known to be back to do their thing.



The Marvels



Directed by: Nia DaCosta


Release date: July 28, 2023


The MCU isn't getting smaller as Marvel plans to release five films in 2023 alone, including a Captain Marvel sequel that will star Nia DaCosta (2021's Candyman) and Brie Larson will return as Carol Danvers.

The film will also be the big screen debut for Iman Vellani aka Ms. Marvel's Kamala Khan, following the debut of her eponymous Disney+ series in 2022.



Roosevelt 2023

Release date: July 14, 2023


Leonardo DiCaprio will play the role of a leader who survived the Great Depression and World War II. The movie was announced back in 2017 and we haven't heard from it since, so take this release date with a pinch of salt.


Dune Part Two - Dune 2



Release date: Denis Villeneuve


Release date: October 30, 2023


Dune: Part Two has officially launched, and director Denis Villeneuve claims the film will cover the remainder of Frank Herbert's 1965 opus (and will run exclusively in theaters).



Wonka - Willy Wonka



Directed by: Paul King


Cast: Timothée Chalamet, Olivia Colman, Sally Hawkins, Rowan Atkinson, Keegan-Michael Key


Release date: December 15, 2023


Timothée Chalamet takes the place of young Willy Wonka in this offbeat origin story that follows an aspiring chocolatier as he crosses paths with the Oompa-Loompas. Olivia Colman, Sally Hawkins, Keegan Michael-Kay and Rowan Atkinson round out the superb cast, while Paul King, who has received huge critical acclaim for his two Paddington films, takes on the role of director.



Star Wars: Rogue Squadron



Directed by: Patty Jenkins

Release date: December 23, 2023


In 2020, it was announced that Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins was attached to direct a film about starship pilots in the Star Wars universe called Rogue Squadron, and in mid-2021, Jenkins revealed that the script was almost complete.

Later that year, production was reportedly delayed due to Jenkins' schedule, but the film's release date remains unchanged.
